A Week Of Drained Energy

Last week was really a toxic one. Many students came to my office to ask for their grades. They wanted to know whether they passed or failed. If they pass, they will prepare for graduation and enroll in a review school to prepare for the board exam. If they fail, they will petition for opening of same subjects this coming summer.

How I wish everybody passes! I can't really look straight into their faces with tears overflowing from those innocent eyes. They have one common question to ask: "Ma'am wala na ba adjustments?" And to that, I have merely one answer, "That is final, but just pray, because miracles do happen." In the confines of my room, when I'm alone, I ask myself, what is really in a "grade?" Well, it means graduation for the 5th year students. It means attending at the PICC with the parents and celebrating with the whole family, and finally getting a decent job. For BSA graduates, it's a passport to enroll in a review school and take the CPA Board Exam in October 2010.

But then, I just want to make it clear to my dear students, grades are not subject to adjustments unless the faculty committed an error in recording. Just like in an ordinary business transaction, we prepare adjustments at the end of the period when the bookkeeper or accountant recorded it erroneously, whether it is intentional or unintentional.

To those who passed, my sincere congratulations, but to those who were not able to make it, better luck next time. God has better plans for you. Just be patient, I'm sure in the end you will be successful.
