Rest and Re-charge Lipa City Batangas Style!

The market is full of nothing but fresh produce!
After a full-blast 2nd semester ends, everyone deserves a rest. True enough, I found a couple of days with friends to retreat from the busy and noisy city of Manila  to a quiet place in Lipa City. =)

Lipa City has indeed transformed from a simple town which is just a part of Batangas City into a progressive independent city as it is now. The progress of the city is spectacular with the presence of tall buildings, including big malls like Robinsons and SM. Banks, fastfoods, restaurants, and other businesses are found  in every corner of the city.

The streets are wide and clean, the traffic well managed, and it is very safe to walk around the city. I have not seen any trace of garbage, instead, fresh air abounds because of tall trees and green plants along the way, as you walk or get a ride to transfer from one place to another.

From Lipa, we found our way to Bauan Public Market. The market offers nothing but fresh fish, shrimps, crabs, squids, octopus, and many more, not to mention at very low/affordable prices. The vendors told us that the produce were caught from the sea of Anilao and Bauan, merely two hours earlier, and they rushed them to the market so that the customers can benefit from the fresh taste of their merchandise. The fruits and vegetables were planted and harvested by the vendors themselves from their own farms. Which leaves us no choice but to eat only fresh and yummy foods. =)

Indeed, it was a complete rest and re-charge of myself. Specifically, my lungs breathed fresh air, my stomach had fresh food, my eyes savored the green  plants and trees, and not once did I fear anyone snatching my stuff while I freely walked anywhere. My brain was also well-rested and wasn't bothered of any thoughts regarding lessons, reports, and deadlines.
Really, a lot changes in that part of the continent where my roots once belonged. But one old thing remains to be the same. Despite the modern life brought about by industrialization, technology and progress, people are still very humble and sincere. You can trust everyone  you talk to because honesty is the benchmark of a true Batangueno. And needless to say, I'm very proud to be one! =)
